Eleanorth - The Feelings Underneath

PostDateIcon Thursday, 10 December 2009 22:55 | PDF Print E-mail

Eleanorth is a collaborative poetry / artwork project that came into existence in 2007. From the very beginning the purpose of this project has been to combine words and images to build a beautiful little world of its own. The lyricbook contains lyrics by Hendrik Behnisch (Valkaama, Asleep In The Storm) and photography by Christian Winkelmann, taken in Gothenburg, Sweden. Featuring also contributors from Finland it is yet again a piece of art from main man and Tuskasi writer Hendrik Behnisch that embodies dark and deep emotions while highlighting profound values such as cross-cultural friendship. He was also the one who answered a few questions to sum up the project.

WHO:

The main people behind the book are Christian Winkelmann, Anna Karppinen, Nomisum, Riku Kärkkäinen (Viola) and me. Whereas I created the concept and wrote the lyrics that set the artistic frame, Christian contributed the photographs which were layouted by Nomisum. Artistically, those three guys are the core-group of Eleanorth, but Anna Karppinen's (main model) and Riku Kärkkäinen's (foreword) parts are also of significant importance.

WHEN:

I wrote the lyrics between October and December 2008 and figured the visual concept as soon as they were finished. Based on that concept, photograph-sessions were scheduled and held in February / March 2009. The layout sessions took place between April and July 2009, eventually, Riku wrote the introduction to round the book up.

WHERE:

The actual creative process took entirely place in Gothenburg, Sweden. The events there inspired the lyrics and each single photograph was taken there. Then, the layout sessions were held in Berlin and in the end, I received an e-mail from Helsinki, containing the foreword I asked for.

WHY:

The lyrics that got the whole thing started just came out of me in Gothenburg - it wasn't really the plan to come up with another lyricbook. But once the words were written down, I wanted them to be published. The whole book pretty much is a lyrical and visually beautified diary of my life in Gothenburg. The social aspect was the probably most important one in the life I lived there - that's why I wanted that to be reflected in the making of the book as well: I wanted to collaborate with suitable people.

MESSAGE:

The lyrics weren't written to pull through a particular message: They only reflect my thoughts and feelings towards life and social relations. The main message of the whole project might be: Follow your vision and don't hesitate to get something creative started, preferably along with friends. It's an incomparable feeling to hold the final result iny your hands.
